Carlsbad Wild Coast Garden

Intentional contrast is a beautiful thing in an outdoor space. This Carlsbad landscape has a wild feel (vigorous native plants, winding creek), which contrasts against geometric shapes of the hardscape and carpentry (modern deck, patios + walkways). The yard is a nice place to spend time, with a mix of natural materials, neutral tones, sitting nooks, and native plants. The materials choices and thoughtful layout are what make it feel like an oasis, with artsy coastal vibes. This is one of our early collabs with Waves Landscape Design.

Project Features

This project features a water harvesting swale with rubble and carex grass winding through it, vegetable gardens and beautiful plant placement with mostly native plants, reusing old pavers (found buried on site) to make an eye catching modern walkway, a large lounge deck and hexagon pavers, and a timber/gravel firepit area.
