Rain harvesting

Especially in San Diego, water is precious. Almost 100% of the water we get from city lines is transported from Northern California and the quickly depleting Colorado River. At the same time, we have abundant water resources coming from our own properties. For example, a 1,000 sq ft roof in San Diego county will catch an average of 6,000 gallons per year. That water can either go to the gutter-  polluting the ocean and taxing storm water infrastructure, or it can stay on your property, infiltrate back into the earth and save you money on water bills.
