North Park Water Conservation Landscape

The customer's yard sloped towards their house with nowhere to drain, and they had water issues including under the house, so we installed a drainage system in the backyard. Instead of discharging at the street like a traditional system, we installed a green driveway with low-growing plants, and hiding underneath is a deep rock filled basin fed by pipes from a roof downspout. We go to this extra effort because it let’s the water spill back into the earth instead of discharging at the curb and bringing pollution to the ocean.

In this new landscape the roof water drains into a dry creek bed/dry well basin. New flagstones, native lawn, plenty of fruit trees, native and pollinator plants and a thriving vegetable garden with our hand mixed soil preparation and drip irrigation.
